Can I boil other liquids like milk or tea inside the kettle?

No. Electric kettles are designed for boiling water only. Boiling milk, tea, or coffee directly inside can cause residue buildup, odors, or damage to the heating element.

Are there any plastic parts that come into contact with water?

No. The interior, including the heating plate, inner lid and spout, is made of food-grade 304 stainless steel. This ensures durability, prevents rust, and keeps water free from plastic contact.

Should I lower my temperature setting at high altitudes?

If your water boils before reaching the set temperature or overflows rapidly, refer to this chart for adjustment.

To calculate the boiling temperature based on a specific altitude, click here.

Please ensure that the water level in your kettle stays below the maximum fill line.

Is the DJ Electric Kettle Stovetop Safe?

No, please DO NOT use your electric kettle on the stovetop! It is designed to be used ONLY with its electric base.

Placing the kettle on a stove or induction surface can result in damage and the melting of its components.

How should I clean, maintain and descale my DJ kettle?

Cleaning Your Kettle Regularly:

  1. Cool Down: Ensure the kettle is completely cool. Empty any leftover water.
  2. Interior Cleaning: Clean the inside with soapy water, then rinse. Do not immerse the kettle in water.
  3. Exterior Wiping: Use a damp cloth for the outside and base. Avoid abrasive cleaners or pads.
  4. Dishwasher Warning: The kettle and base should not be placed in a dishwasher as they contain electrical parts.

Descaling Your Kettle:

Limescale, resembling white or off-white stains, often forms at the bottom of the kettle. This is a normal buildup of minerals like calcium carbonate from water.

Signs of Limescale: Delayed temperature reading, over-boiling, inaccurate temperatures, and reduced heating efficiency indicate scale buildup.

Descaling Solutions: Use coffee / espresso machine descaler, vinegar, citric acid, or a commercial descaler like Urnex Dezcal.

Using Vinegar:

  • Mix equal parts vinegar and water.
  • Boil the mixture, let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

Using Citric Acid:

  • Mix 500mL of water with 2 spoonfuls of citric acid.
  • Boil, wait for 30 minutes, then rinse. Follow the product instructions.

Caution: Do not use steel wool or abrasive brushes. They can damage the kettle and worsen limescale issues. Use a sponge or soft brush instead.
